5 of 5 stars  Great Anthology Of Gary Moore
Tuesday, October 29, 2002
OUT IN THE FIELDS is a great anthology of Gary Moore's work of the 80s and 90s. It features material from out-of-print albums such as RUN FOR COVER, THE WILD FRONTIER, and AFTER THE WAR, as well as one track each from each of the first two blues albums. The best track on the collection is "Run For Cover", but there's other great cuts here too, such as "After The War", "Out In The Fields", "Over The Hills And Far Away", "The Wild Frontier", and "Ready For Love." There should have been more songs from CORRIDORS OF POWER and VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE- perhaps a double-disc set set would have sufficed- but this is a good starting place for your Gary Moore library.

5 of 5 stars  One of my favorite albums
Tuesday, October 22, 2002
I very rarely buy albums because I usually like only a few of the songs. This CD is an excellent compilation and I love all but one of the songs. This is definitely one of my favorite albums. Moore is both a talented guitarist and songwriter. If you love great rock music, especially from the 70s you will enjoy this album. Its also good the hear the great Phil Lynott on a live version of Parisienne Walkways.

4 of 5 stars  Good - Blues & Ballads may be a better
Friday, November 30, 2001
Many great tracks: Empty Rooms, Cold Day in Hell (tons of energy), Free's Wishing Well (great to hear after all these years), Still Got the Blues. I prefer the Thin Lizzy (Brian Robertson/Scott Gorham) version of Still in Love with You -- it is hard to beat perfection, but it is good to hear that song again (soulful slow blues). Parisienne Walkways show-cases Gary's remarkable near infinite sustain (Les Paul and lots of gain through a Marshall amp), and this live version seems to sustain forever -- a Gary Moore classic! Great to hear the late, great Phil Lynott's voice too. However, the collection doesn't seem to hang together as well as I had hoped. I think Blues and Ballads might be a more coherent compilation of similar material.

5 of 5 stars  a MUST for people who have not yet listened to Gary Moore
Thursday, July 26, 2001
I never heard Gary Moore's music except for what little he recorded with Thin Lizzy, but when I got this CD as a gift I was hooked! I cannot go a week without listening to it, and I'm slowly building my Gary Moore CD collection because his guitar sound is infallible, get this CD, it's music with inspiration and message, you will NOT be dissapointed!

2 of 5 stars  CHEAP COMPILATION
Friday, March 30, 2001
compilations are a joke. Gary has recorded an infinite number of albuns covering different styles of muscis. THen the record company takes a bunch of fifteen of them and say they are the best. "READY FOR LOVE" one of the very best??! You must be joking. "STILL GOT THE BLUES" with a shortened version ??!!! Forget it
