We Love ELMO!Friday, April 29, 2005
We bought this for my daughter, the household Elmo lover. he became an instant hit because 1)he's ELMO! 2) he SINGS! My daughter was really really sick at Christmas and having this Elmo close to her really made her day! Yes, hearing him sing how much he loved us constantly during the 20 minute drive to Grandma's was a bit much for Daddy. my son and i were singing with Elmo though! Elmo has several features in his furry little body. you can squeeze his free hand to hear him sing "Elmo Loves You" (to the tune of Where is Thumbkin). You can squeeze his stomach to hear him tell you how much he loves your hugs. There is a flower in his other hand (paw?) that makes Elmo say how special you are. Elmo's voice is of average volume. He has no volume switch but he does have an On/Off switch!! Hidden in his furry back is the battery box and Elmo's On/Off Switch. Much to the delight for those parents who may need Elmo to "take a nap" for a while. (I told my daughter that once and she just accepted it) Elmo is very huggable (on or off) and the only thing that isn't is the flower in his hand. Moving the petals sets the flower off talking so if Elmo was singing before, he will now start talking about the flower. My daughter is two and she has learned how to hug and play with Elmo without disturbing the flower. I highly recommend this Elmo for ANYone who loves Elmo!

We Love ElmoMonday, December 06, 2004
My daughter got this toy from her grandma and she LOVES IT. She carries it EVERYWHERE with her. I read the previous review and yes the flower is very sensitive but there is an on/off button above the battery compartment in the back for parential relief.

Cute, But Activates Too EasilyTuesday, November 16, 2004
This Elmo has a catchy toon, but the way you make it activate is just not practical. The flower is so sensitive it is constantly talking when you pick up the toy, interrupting the singing feature (activated by squeezing the hand).
PROS
- Very catchy song (activate by squeezing the hand)
- Popular Elmo Character
- Sorta teaches child that hugging is a way to express "love"
CONS
- Flower is hard plastic, not making it a very "huggable" toy
- Flower is very sensitive to touch, so it activates often and interrupts other features on the toy.
- You are supposed to be able to "hug" Elmo to activate another feature... however because the flower is in the way (and will activate if you touch it) you must instead squeeze Elmo's tummy in order to activate.
TOY IS NOT VERY EXPENSIVE, SO IN SPITE OF ALL THE "CONS" IT'S WORTH A LOOK IF YOUR CHILD ABSOLUTELY LOVES ELMO.
